It started with the 2026 World Cup

For most of my life, soccer was a once-every-four-years thing. I'd watch the World Cup, enjoy it, and go back to my usual American sports. But 2026 hit different. I got hooked. I had to watch every game. I was fascinated by the players, the clubs they came from, and how completely different this sport is from the leagues I grew up on.

Then I tried to follow it — and got lost

Every time I looked up a player I liked, I'd find his club, and then fall down a rabbit hole. Leagues stacked on leagues, cups inside cups, teams moving up and down, tournaments I'd never heard of. The sheer size of it was staggering — this overlapping, intricate map of leagues and competitions I just couldn't wrap my head around. And I couldn't find a single site that explained it to someone like me: brand new, genuinely curious, and tired of being talked over.

So I built the thing I needed

I wanted to keep watching. I wanted to see the best compete. But I needed somewhere to start. So I began building a little site to keep it all straight for myself — a map of how the whole thing fits together. Then it hit me: there have to be thousands of new fans just as lost as I was. Why not build it for them too? I love making things, so this became a labor of love, and it's been growing ever since.

The honest part

This isn't a business, and it's definitely not a cash grab. It's a passion project. Down the road I might add a few non-invasive “where to watch” links — the kind that could earn a little to help cover the cost of the live data the site runs on. That's the extent of it. I'm very much not here to get rich (lol). If Soccer Sherpa helps one person fall for this sport the way I did, that's the win.

I'm keeping my name off it — this was never about me. It's about the game, and about helping you find your way in. So: welcome. Let's climb.
